The Board serves as the governing body for Valley Preschool & Childcare. Our primary responsibilities include ensuring the organization remains mission-driven, providing strategic oversight, ensuring financial sustainability, and supporting our staff as they deliver high-quality early childhood education to our community.
We respect that our board members are busy professionals and parents. Generally, board members can expect to commit to:
Monthly Meetings: We meet once a month for approximately 60–90 minutes.
Committee Work: Members are encouraged to join one committee (e.g., Finance, Fundraising, or Parent Liaison), which may require an additional [e.g., 1–2 hours] per month.
Our Financial and Fundraising Committees are the most involved committees to be apart of.
Special Events: Participation in key community fundraisers, such as our annual Pancake Supper, is highly encouraged.
Absolutely not! While we value educational expertise, our board is most effective when it includes a diverse range of perspectives. We are currently seeking individuals with experience in finance, marketing, human resources, legal affairs, or simply a deep passion for early childhood development and our local community.
Beyond attending meetings, members are expected to:
Act as ambassadors for the preschool & childcare center within the community.
Contribute to strategic planning and long-term goal setting.
Maintain fiduciary responsibility by reviewing financial reports and participating in budget planning.
Serving on the board is a meaningful way to give back to your community. You will help shape the future of local early childhood education, build professional connections, develop your governance skills, and ensure that Valley Preschool & Childcare remains a cornerstone of our community for years to come.
We are looking for anyone that is interesting in supporting the Center's mission. If you are interested, we invite you to reach out to an existing Board member or Board President to learn more. Elections are held each September for new members.
